Description:

Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Teotihuacan culture, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A hand-built and highly burnished brownware pottery vessel of cylindrical form with thin walls and a planar base resting atop a trio of hollow, nubbin-form feet. Incised on the exterior walls are 3 rectangular panels depicting abstract skulls, each with a triangular nose, inverted triangular eyes, and rectangular mouths containing 3 square teeth. Size: 5.6" W x 5" H (14.2 cm x 12.7 cm)

  • Condition: Possible restoration to all 3 feet. Chip to rim with resulting fissure stemming below on one side of wall. Abrasions and fading to brown pigment, with softening to some incised decorations, and light encrustations. Nice remains of brown pigment throughout.
