Description:

Pre-Columbian, Central Mexico, Teotihuacan culture, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A hand-built pottery bowl with a squat, cylindrical body supported by a trio of nubbin legs. The highly burnished exterior exhibits a repeating decorative program of stepped and tendril-like motifs in red pigment atop a pale orange ground, and thin incisions outline each of the intricate geometric details. Size: 4.75" W x 3.3" H (12.1 cm x 8.4 cm)

Provenance: ex-Ashland University Museum, Ashland, Ohio, USA, donated to Ashland University between July 1994 to December 1998
