Latin America, Mexico, Taxco, Los Castillo, ca. 1939 to 1962 CE. A handwrought copper water pitcher of a curvaceous form with a green malachite frog, carved in the round and perched upon the leaf at the front end of the handle, and five inlaid malachite frogs leaping in various poses around the shoulder of the near spherical body of the pitcher. Stamped "LOS CASTILLO TAXCO" and "HANDWROUGHT HECHO EN MEXICO 48" on the base. A stunning example of Taxco metalwork by Los Castillo. Size: 6.75" W x 9.375" H (17.1 cm x 23.8 cm)

  • Condition: Malachite frog perching on the leaf is in excellent condition. Malachite inlays for frogs on shoulder show some abraded areas/losses. Copper vessel shows expected tarnish, a few scratches, but is overall very good with a few areas of green patina.
