Magna Graecia, South Italic Colonies, Apulia, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A fine wheel-thrown pottery lekythos with a discoid foot, a tall ovoid body, a tooled ring around the cylindrical neck, a discoid rim with a funnel mouth, and an applied arching handle. Lustrous jet-black glaze covers much of the vessel, with only a reserve ring around the base and a 'bullseye'-style area beneath the foot displaying the original buffware color. An elegant example of Apulian artistry! Size: 2.75" W x 6.125" H (7 cm x 15.6 cm).
