Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, Protoclassic period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery figure of a standing woman who holds a child with both hands in a frontal posture. The mother wears a tall headdress with applied bands, armlets, earrings, and a necklace. Incised linear motifs are etched on the legs and waist. Scattered areas of strong mineral deposits and manganese on the surface. A very fine example! Size: 3.3" L x 1.5" W x 8" H (8.4 cm x 3.8 cm x 20.3 cm); 8.25" H (21 cm) on included custom stand.
