Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tairona, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A lost-wax cast gold mythological creature known as a saurian with petite limbs and an elaborate 'tail' that is actually a second zoomorphic head. The bat-like main head displays a pair of perky ears, granular eyes and nostrils, and a filigree central crest down the middle of the face. The second head bears sizable nostrils and filigree loops along the back peripheries. A suspension loop is located along the underside of the larger head, enabling it to be worn on a necklace strand. Size: 1.76" L x 1.17" W x 0.91" H (4.5 cm x 3 cm x 2.3 cm); 2.33" H (5.9 cm) on included custom stand; weight: 10.7 grams.
