Description:

Ancient Near East, Syro-Hittite, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A charming 81.6% silver amulet of an anthropomorphic figure with simple features. His legs are fused together, and a protruding knob indicates his genitalia. The arms are crossed over his chest, and his face has nicely rendered features; a small nose and impressed areas to indicate eyes, ears, and mouth. This figure was probably a protective amulet, as part of a small loop likely used to suspend him from a cord protrudes from the verso.
