Description:

Near East, Syria/Turkey, Syro Hittite, ca. 2750 to 1900 BCE. At first glance, this piece is both mysterious yet familiar. Its mythical eyes and face are almost bird-like, yet the arms placed upon hips, incised fingers, and pectoral are distinctly human, all set upon a monolithic body. This figurine is a Syro-Hittite Pillar Figurine, a form of statuary made in tribute to these ancient culture's gods and goddesses. Lucite stand. Size: figure alone measures 1" L x 2" W x 3.5" H (2.5 cm x 5.1 cm x 8.9 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on stand
