Description:

**Originally Listed At $700**

Ancient Near East, Syro-Hittite, ca. 2nd millennium BCE. A wonderful example of a Mesopotamian foundation figurine in the form of 3 deities merged at the feet and arms. Each presents a slender, tubular body and a stylized head with an indented mouth, a pinched nose, and huge eyes, surmounted by the tall, pointed headdress of a Hittite god. Figures like these would be pounded into the ground near the foundations of important buildings and were believed to provide magical protection. Size: 1.5" W x 2.6" H (3.8 cm x 6.6 cm)
