Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Inca, ca. 1470 to 1532 CE. A painstakingly carved wooden spoon with a petite rounded scoop and extensively decorated handle with a double bird finial - probably two parrots facing outward in opposite directions with skillfully delineated eyes, plumage, and beaks. A magnificent utensil that was most likely used during ritualistic ceremonies given the fine artistry and technique required to create it. Size: 6.7" L (17 cm)
