Description:

Roman Empire, ca 2nd century CE. One of the most delightful examples of functional bronze work we have seen in some time! Bronze chariot fitting / reign guide with sack-form base and three machined lines just below flared base where a nude Eros sits, wings outstretched, hands to his knees. There is an iron pin beneath the lower section of bronze that would have held this in place - now rusted from 2000 years of burial. Custom stand. Size: 6" H (15.2 cm).

Provenance: Ex- M. Jones collection excavated in the UK.
