Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 400 to 600 CE. Though a fragment, the workmanship, color palette, and intricate detail on this textile is impressive. The artisan has depicted a highly decorated warrior - donning an elaborate headdress with abstract geometric motifs in blue and red and a grand loop-fringed border as well as a tunic adorned with five abstract zoomorphic, likely avian creatures. He holds a weapon in his left hand and his expressive visage with finely delineated features in gold and chocolate brown against a red complexion. Size: 4.5" W x 6.25" H (11.4 cm x 15.9 cm); 5.25" W x 7.25" H (13.3 cm x 18.4 cm) with lucite frame
