Description:

Pre-Columbian, South America, Colombia, Narino, ca. 1250 CE. Beautiful and musical too, this finely made Narino pottery ocarina was modeled in the elegant shape of sea shell and features a couple embracing a child between them - a sweet family perhaps - in relief, surrounded by stylized geometric motifs, all in vivid hues of chocolate brown and tan, via the Narino artisan's signature negative resist technique. Perforations through one end for suspension. Large opening for blowing across to produce a lovely sound. A fabulous Pre-Columbian wind instrument! Custom stand. Size: 4.125" L x 3.125" W (10.5 cm x 7.9 cm); 5" H (12.7 cm) on stand
