Description:

Pre-Columbian, Northern Peru, Inca, ca. 1500 CE. Terracotta vessel painted in bright, vivid colors. Classic form is perfect, one of the best we've ever seen. Although awkward in shape, vessels such as this one were used by the Inca during rituals requiring chicha (corn beer). Size: 8"H x 7"W. Provenance: Ex-private Kate Kemper collection, Switzerland. Ms. Kemper collected Pre-Columbian art in the 1950s. Many of her pieces are housed in the British Museum. For a very similar example, see The Metropolitan Museum, Accession No. 1978.412.68. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #108972
