Magna Graecia, probably Tarentum, Italy, ca. late 5th to middle 4th century BCE. A mold-made, terracotta protome of a beautiful goddess, presenting a delicate visage comprised of deep-set, almond-shaped eyes beneath arched brows, an aquiline nose, smooth cheeks, a rounded chin, and full, heart-shaped lips, wavy coiffure with corkscrew tresses pulled back behind her ears that are adorned with circular earrings. The piece has a reddish clay body that was finished in a milky white hue. The sculptor of this piece modeled the beautiful goddess with the utmost sensitivity and skill. This is a true classical beauty! Size: 7" W x 8" H (17.8 cm x 20.3 cm); 9.375" H (23.8 cm) on included custom stand.
