Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chimu, ca. 1000 CE. An outstanding and large example of a silver kero with impressive star design in repousse from the Chimu culture of Northern Peru. It is comprised of sheet silver, hammer-molded to form a drinking cup with bold repousse of stars. Such beakers were oftentimes used to drink or serve fermented corn beer or chicha which was and continues to be a favored beverage in Peru. Size: 6-3/4"H x 4-1/2" in diameter at rim.
