Pre-Columbian, Peru, North of Lima, Chancay, ca. 900 to 1300 CE. A very fine pottery olla! Large olla in form of a human carrying a llama across his shoulders. The llama's legs are held with long rope held in hands of the human figure who also holds two textile bags across his shoulders. Deep, thick textured brown pigment applied liberally over vessel. A much finer than normal example! Size: 12.3" L x 7.5" Diameter (31.2 cm x 19 cm)

  • Condition: Areas of verso are professionally repaired with restoration over break lines; all done very well and only noticeable on interior. Very small probe hole to underside of base, as well as age-commensurate surface wear as shown. Otherwise, nice presentation with good remaining pigments.
