Description:

**Originally Listed At $300**

Ancient Near East, Sumer, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A fine figural amulet idol, hand-carved from black stone with light-grey veining and covered in several convex indentations. The figure presents seated on an integral tiered plinth, holds bent arms against the rounded chest, and has plateaued shoulders which taper to a thick neck. The ovoid head narrows near the chin and has a perky nose, deeply-bored eyes, and an incised coiffure. The petite size of the figure suggests that it was perhaps created with a votive context in mind. Size: 0.875" W x 2" H (2.2 cm x 5.1 cm).
