Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Sumer, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A beautiful necklace of a wearable form that is composed with dozens of steatite beads in black, grey, white, and beige hues. The chromatic pattern alternates between dark and light colors, and the necklace strand is capped with a silver-plated loop and lobster clasp combo. Size (necklace): 19.75" L (50.2 cm); (largest bead): 0.125" W (0.3 cm)
