Ancient Near East, Sumeria, ca. late 2nd millennium BCE. A beautiful pale green, near translucent chalcedony cylinder seal, pierced laterally for suspension. It is carved in two registers. On the upper are three seated gods engaged in beer drinking within walled architecture. The lower register features a mythological scene of winged masters of animals, a stylized figure in Near Eastern mythology. The color of this gorgeous seal really sets it apart! Size: 0.6" W x 1.5" H (1.5 cm x 3.8 cm)
