Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Sumer, ca. 3rd to 2nd millennium BCE. A pretty necklace comprised of over 60 ancient beads made of faience and carnelian stones. The strand is arranged with petite spherical and tubular faience beads in chalky white and pale blue hues. The faience flanks each of the larger carnelian beads, presented here in warm hues of citrine orange and red. The beads are strung in modern times and fitted with a modern hook clasp. This is a beautiful and wearable example of fine ancient artistry! Size of necklace: 20.5" L (52.1 cm); largest bead: 1" L x 0.5" W (2.5 cm x 1.3 cm)
