Description:

East Asia, China, late Sui to early Tang Dynasty, ca. late 6th to early 7th century CE. A charming, mold-formed pottery female figure, covered in pale yellow-green straw glaze. She stands atop an integral circular base and wears a belted, knee-length robe over her garments with hands clasped across her abdomen. Her fancy coiffure is drawn beneath a high headdress. The straw glazing in the Sui Dynasty was the inspiration for celadon wares so admired in later times. Size: 9.5" H (24.1 cm)
