Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Michoacan area, Tarascan culture, ca. 1350 to 1521 CE. A rare, circular, squat vessel with a long, gently curved spout, exquisitely preserved. The surface is painted a beautiful contrasting dark and light red with the tip painted a creamy color. Delicate white lines and dots create a swirling and linear pattern, so that the vessel seems divided between two stylistic forms - one regular and geometric, the other more sinuous and chaotic. A delicate spout rises from the center of the vessel, with a flared mouth and slightly rolled rim. Size: 10.85" W x 6.1" H (27.6 cm x 15.5 cm)
