Description:

Ancient Seas, North America, ca. 400 to 50 million years ago. A petite ammonite of spiraling form with silvery surfaces laden with gorgeous, rainbow-hued iridescence. The lustrous marine fossil is positioned to show the large chamber opening at the top of the modern rhodium-plated sterling silver setting in which it is housed. The setting includes a drop-form suspension loop that enables its wearability. The name "ammonite" came from Pliny the Elder after the Egyptian god Ammon, who was typically depicted wearing ram's horns that Pliny thought these fossils resembled. Size (pendant): 0.95" W x 1.13" H (2.4 cm x 2.9 cm); 1.67" H (4.2 cm) with suspension loop; (necklace cord): 22.125" L (56.2 cm); sterling silver quality: 92.5% or higher; weight: 12.9 grams
