A fine milagro in the form of a pierced heart with blood dripping from the wound emerging from billowing clouds, with a flame at the top, representing the Lady of Sorrows and her love and grief for her son, Jesus Christ, all comprised of high content .925 silver. This is a favored Spanish Colonial form skillfully crafted in the time honored tradition via the repousse technique. The word milagro translates to miracle or surprise. Milagros, also known as ex-votos, are religious folk charms used as votive offerings and for healing purposes in Mexico, other regions of Latin America, the southern United States, and sections of the Iberian peninsula. The faithful attach them to altars, shrines, and sacred objects such as church bells found in places of worship. 6.75 ounces. Size: 10" W x 7.2" H (25.4 cm x 18.3 cm)
