Description:

Magna Graecia, South Italy, Campania, ca. 4th century BCE. An attractive blackware pottery salt dish with a shallow basin, rounded walls, and a petite discoid foot. The exterior walls are lined with dozens of vertical, pattern-molded ribs, and a small flower is impressed into the center of the basin. The entire vessel - save for underneath the foot - is enveloped with a lustrous jet-black glaze which has developed faint silvery iridescence in some areas. Size: 3.6" W x 1.2" H (9.1 cm x 3 cm).
