Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Sinu Valley (Tairona or Quimbaya peoples), ca. 4th to 11th centuries CE. A lovely necklace comprised of dozens of black pottery beads from ancient Colombia, all strung on a modern strand to be wearable. Seven sizable beads of a flattened teardrop form are featured at the center of the necklace and 2 ovoid beads are at each side all adorned with incised designs and separated from one another by numerous spherical beads. Size of largest bead: 1.2" L x 0.8" W (3 cm x 2 cm); Size of strand: 28.5" L (72.4 cm)

Provenance: private Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA collection, acquired in 1972
