Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Sinu (Zenu) peoples, ca. 800 to 1200 CE. A hand-carved bone finial depicting a stylized monkey crouching with lengthy hind legs atop the base of the carving. The simian creature presents with characteristic facial features while the handle portion itself is incised with delicate bullseye motifs. Size: 0.8" L x 1.9" W x 4.5" H (2 cm x 4.8 cm x 11.4 cm); 5.9" H (15 cm) on included custom stand.
