Description:

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, middle Cauca River region, Sinu culture, ca. 800 to 1500 CE. Finely crafted from 15K+ gold, these crescent-shaped earrings were cast via the lost wax (cire perdue). Each earring presents an intricate composition of two filigreed registers separated by solid, striated bands, a semicircular suspension ring arching across the central body, and twin stylized, long-beaked birds at each upper corner. A beautiful set of ancient gold adornments from the Sinu! Size of each (both are relatively similar): 1.75" W x 1" H (4.4 cm x 2.5 cm); quality of gold: 62-67% (the equivalent of 15K+); total weight: 6.3 grams.
