Description:

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A fashionable sterling silver pendant formed from a triangular fragment of Roman glass, a copper coin, a faceted white topaz stone, and a faceted aquamarine stone. The surfaces of the glass fragment have developed wondrous layers of brilliant rainbow-hued iridescence, though its underlying sapphire-blue color can only be seen when held next to a bright light source. The circular white topaz and ovoid aquamarine stones flank the top of the glass fragment, and above these components is a circular copper coin showing 2 standing figures facing towards one another. Size (pendant): 0.8" W x 2" H (2 cm x 5.1 cm); (cord): 22" L (55.9 cm); sterling silver quality: 92.5% or higher; weight: 9.3 grams
