Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A gorgeous pendant comprised of ancient Roman glass and a copper coin set in a modern sterling silver bezel with an aquamarine stone! The triangular fragment of aqua blue glass has lovely iridescence that shimmers with magical rainbow hues! Above one corner of the glass fragment is a faceted translucent aquamarine stone that glints in the light, and above that is a circular Roman copper coin. The coin, while rubbed and aged with a heavy patina, the faint bust of an emperor facing left is still visible on the obverse face. This pendant is wearable and strung on a modern cord with a clasp as a necklace. Size of pendant: 2" L x 0.5" W (5.1 cm x 1.3 cm); cord: 21" L (53.3 cm); silver quality: 92.5%; weight: 5.8 grams

  • Condition: Roman glass and coin are ancient, necklace cord and sterling silver setting are modern. Roman glass component is a fragment of a larger piece with minor abrasions and surface pitting. Heavy patina and softening to Roman coin, and reverse face is indiscernible. Great iridescence on glass and wearable!
