Description:

North America, ca. millions of years ago. A lovely sterling silver pendant setting containing a fossilized ammonite shell, a petrified (fossilized) piece of peanut wood, and 2 topaz gemstones. The pendant bail is strung on a modern cord with a lobster clasp as a wearable necklace. The ammonite shell is preserved with great details such as the textural ridges and glimmering pyrite across the surface, the two faceted clear / white topaz are set into bezels on either lower side, and the polished piece of peanut wood has the characteristic dark brown and splotchy white hues. This is a type of petrified coniferous wood that has creamy white ovoid markings that are peanut sized and shaped due to time spent as a piece of driftwood, picking up sea life- such as clams that bored into the wood, leaving tunnels that eventually filled with silica rich sediment when the wood eventually sank. Size (pendant): 2.375" L x 1.125" W (6 cm x 2.9 cm); (cord): 21" L (53.3 cm); sterling silver quality: 92.5% or higher; weight: 19 grams
