Description:

North America, Western United States, Mesozoic era, ca. 252 to 66 million years ago. A pair of wearable earrings made from high quality silver, fossilized dinosaur bones, and sapphires! The bones have undergone an amazing transformation - not just turning to stone but into colorful agate, sliced in modern times to show the interior which is highly polished to highlight the amazing coloration and membrane structures that have been preserved, frozen in umber brown and black hues. Silica based permineralization will sometimes result in this stunning bone to agate - a rare type of fossilization that is truly beautiful. The triangular slabs have an ovoid bezel setting on the lower edge that contains a faceted blue sapphire. The upper tip is outfitted with a silver latch/lever back closure. Size: 1.75" L x 1" W (4.4 cm x 2.5 cm); silver quality: 90%; weight: 10 grams
