Werner Knaupp (German, b. 1936), "Sahara", 1970. A lithograph - signed, titled, and numbered 67/250 in pencil on the verso. Knaupp studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg from 1957 to 1964. His work is inspired by the natural environment, in particular extreme landscape settings such as deserts, mountains, and volcanos. This piece pays homage to the Sahara Desert with its dramatic use of a black and white color palette and texture to suggest the landscape, horizon line, and sky. Size: 12.25" L x 16.75" W (31.1 cm x 42.5 cm)
