Description:

Sandy Scott (American, b. 1943). Bronze, 1998. Edition 8 of 35. Signed, numbered, and dated on the rear right corner. An elegant cast bronze sculpture depicting a reclining buck by nationally acclaimed wildlife sculptor Sandy Scott. Scott always works in the field in order to render her subjects with accuracy and naturalism as we see in this example. The buck rests with long legs, cloven hooved legs folded beneath him, dignified head graced by a full rack of pointed antlers, ears raised in alert and eyes wide open as if just catching a glimpse of another deer or animal (hopefully not a coyote or mountain lion), painstakingly delineated bone structure, musculature, and coat with an endearing furry tail. An avid outdoors woman who has studios in both Wyoming and Ontario Lake Country, Sandy Scott considers it an honor to sculpt wildlife. In her words, "The process of bringing sculpture and nature together in an outdoor setting is dreamwork for most sculptors, myself included." Size: 11.25" L x 19.5" W x 17.5" H (28.6 cm x 49.5 cm x 44.4 cm)

"Sandy Scott received her formal art training at the Kansas City Art Institute and later worked as an animation background artist for the motion picture industry. She turned her attention to etchings and printmaking in the 1970's and to sculpture in the 1980's. Born in Dubuque, Iowa in 1943 and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she is now headquartered in Lander, Wyoming near the foundry that casts her bronzes and she maintains a studio on Lake of the Woods, Ontario, Canada."
