** A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this lot will benefit The Fowler Museum at UCLA **Southwestern USA, Cordova, New Mexico, ca. 1960 to 1970. This is a finely carved two piece figure of a Niño Santo, with fine details on the realistic chair and on the clothing, face, and hands of the figure. Wooden santo carving has been preserved as a folk art in small communities in southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. The town of Cordova, where this was made, is of particular note, producing many well-known santeros. George López, the carver of this piece, was awarded the National Heritage Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Arts in 1982. Size: 5.4" L x 4.5" W x 9.5" H (13.7 cm x 11.4 cm x 24.1 cm)
