East Asia, China, mid 20th century. A beautiful silk hanging scroll with a hand painted composition depicting a lush mountainous landscape replete with foliage and waterfalls. Below is a quaint pagoda occupied by two seated figures. This age-old theme is set in a verdant landscape with leafy trees inviting the viewer to take in the scene. All is delineated with beautiful water-based palette on silk, in a gong-bi (meticulous) style with precise details. There is a calligraphic inscription, a poem, with a red seal below, and an artist seal at the lower left corner of the painting. Comes with its fabric covered box. Size: painting measures 23.75" L x 9" W (60.3 cm x 22.9 cm); scroll measures 53.5" L x 13" W (135.9 cm x 33 cm)

Provenance: private Vero Beach, Florida, USA collection, acquired in England in the 1970s
