The scene depicts the Loisach River coursing at the lower left of the composition and bending gracefully through the landscape with the majestic snowcapped mountains of the Bavarian Alps in the distance. A wonderful painting by an artist who has been referred to as the Albert Bierstadt of Europe - famous for his lavish landscapes featuring awe-inspiring mountain ranges and wooded valleys below.
