Magna Graecia, Sicily, Gela, ca. 425 BCE. Silver AR tetradrachm. Obverse: Charioteer, holding kentron in right hand and reins in left, driving slow quadriga right, above, Nike flying right, crowning horses with open wreath held in both hands, floral ornament in exergue. Reverse: Forepart of man-headed bull to right. Gela remains as a prosperous city today. Gela is located in southern Sicily, and was a Greek colony founded circa 689 BCE.
