Unique and fascinating terracotta head depicting Naylamp,the Emperor of the Sican Empire, also called the Navigator due to the Myth that the Sican people came via big sea rafts from somewhere over the ocean to the Lambayeque coast. The head is a finial of a Royal Staff of Power covered allover in gold sheet with remains of red cinnabar color representing blood or the Life Force. Would have been carried by a Staff Bearer to announce the presence of his king. Size: 5"H x 3"W + custom museum-quality stand. Provenance: Ex-private Westermann collection, Germany, acquired in the 1950s.
