Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Sican-Lambayeque culture, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. A fine drinking vessel called a kero (also quero) hammered from a sheet of 88% silver and decorated with a band of repeating monkeys beneath a register of stepped motifs, all in repousse. The flared rim leads inwards to form a deep basin, and the planar base lends to its support.
