Description:

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Sican/Lambayeque culture, ca. 750 to 1000 CE. A hand-built and highly-burnished blackware pottery vessel with a spherical body, a bulbous neck, a conical spout, and a bifurcated strap handle joining neck to body, all atop a wide flared foot. The neck boasts an abstract anthropomorphic face with raised almond-shaped eyes, a prominent nose, thin incised lips, and nubbin-shaped ears, with the spout doubling as the projecting headdress. Size: 4.5" W x 7.7" H (11.4 cm x 19.6 cm).
