Native American, Southwestern United States, Eastern Arizona, Ancestral Puebloan/Anasazi culture, ca. 1150 to 1250 CE. A wonderful assortments of seven strands of hand-carved stone beads and six shell beads, all shown in a lovely custom display case. Boasting hues of butterscotch and espresso, the stone beads have all been skillfully sculpted into tube and barrel forms. Alternatively the shell beads exhibit cylinder disc forms and pearlescent white surfaces. Size of longest strand: 22" L (55.9 cm); Size of largest shell bead: 1" in diameter (2.5 cm); Size of custom display case: 24" L x 10.375" W (61 cm x 26.4 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

  • Condition: All beads and strands are ancient, but set in modern display case. All strands are fragments of larger pieces. Nicks/chips and some losses to peripheries of beads, but forms are still clear. Otherwise, very nice with lovely earthen deposits.
