Description:

Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Chupicuaro, ca. 3rd - 2nd century BCE. Five miniature hand-built ceramic standing figurines. While most Chupicuaro pottery flats are the brownware "pretty lady" variety, these are all painted in red, black, and cream with bold geometric motifs on both the front and back sides. It is also quite unusual to find a matched group of five. Museum-quality, custom metal stand. Each figure measures approximately 2-1/2"H (6.25 cm). Provenance: Ex-private Shepard collection, Tucson, AZ, Ex-Gail Fischmann private collection, acquired in 4/17/2000 from Primitive Arts Gallery, Tucson, AZ. All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #102373

  • Condition: Headdress of one figure reattached. Tiny loss to hand of one figure. Minor surface wear. Overall excellent condition.
