Western/Central Asia, Islamic/Persian, Seljuk (also Seljuq) culture, ca. 11th to 12th century CE. A lovely ring formed from 50% gold (equivalent to 12K) with a thick shank bearing incised foliate motifs. The ovoid face supports an ovoid turquoise cabochon within a quartet of petite prongs, and the exterior bezel walls are adorned with delicately incised crosshatch registers. A beautiful and wearable ring with lustrous patina! Size (ring): 0.7" W x 0.875" H (1.8 cm x 2.2 cm); (turquoise): 0.5" L x 0.4" W (1.3 cm x 1 cm); quality of gold: 50% (equivalent to 12K); total weight: 7 grams; US ring size 5.5
