Ancient Near East, Eastern Iran, Scythian or Ordos, ca. 2nd to 1st century BCE. A wonderful pair of matching, rectangular bronze cast decorative appliques - both featuring fabulous animal imagery comprised of four frontal hare, rabbit, or possibly ibex heads with long, pointy ears, wide open eyes, and flaring nostrils, all surrounded by a checkered, grid-like border with four integral rings on the verso for attachment. Custom stand. Size: each applique measures ~ 1.375" L x 1.75" W (3.5 cm x 4.4 cm); both with stand 2.125" L x 3.75" W (5.4 cm x 9.5 cm)
