Description:

Ancient Near East/Central Asia, Sassanian (Sasanian/Sassanid) Empire, ca. 224 to 651 CE. A fine stamp seal bead presenting a hemispherical body formed from a metal alloy of copper, antimony, tin, lead, and iron. The flat face is engraved with a linear design of a winged bull facing left. An annular drill hole pierces the body of the bead, allowing it to be suspended. Size: 0.4" in diameter (1 cm); 2.3" H (5.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Zaveloff collection, Lakewood, New Jersey, USA, acquired from Venus Gallery, Israel, in 2002
