Ancient Near East/Central Asia, Sasanian (Sassanian/Sassanid) Empire, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A fine silver ring with a central ovoid bezel featuring a carnelian intaglio of the bust of a woman facing left. Note how her features are finely carved in Eastern style imitating Roman design. An inscription in Pahlavi, also known as Middle Persian, Parsik, or Parsig, is in the upper right, likely following the "luck" formulae found on Sassanian seals.
