Description:

Ancient Near East, Sassanian (Sasanian or Sasanid) Empire, ca. 5th century CE. A lovely pair of bronze ladles, nearly identical in form with deep, ovoid bowls and long, slender stems that bulge at the handle and then taper to a point at the tip. The shoulder and handles of both are adorned with lovely, incised designs featuring striated and circular motifs. Size (about the same): 9.9" L x 3" W (25.1 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: East Coast collection, New York Gallery, New York City, New York, USA, acquired before 2010
