Description:

Ancient Near East, Sasanian (Sassanian, Sasanid) Empire, ca. 224 to 651 CE. An O-Shaped stamp seal carved from red-brown stone with a laterally pierced suspension hole. Inscribed on the stamp face is the left-facing portrait of a bearded man who dons a headband, beaded earrings, and a radiant necklace. Custom putty impression included. Size: 0.4" W x 0.6" H (1 cm x 1.5 cm); 1.9" H (4.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Zaveloff collection, Lakewood, New Jersey, USA, acquired from Venus Gallery, Israel, in 2002
